Estuaries on the MOVE (EMOVE), is a European project, aimed at sustainable management and government of estuaries in the North Sea region. Houtekamer & Van Kleef was asked to develop innovative virtual communication tools that, by means of virtual landscapes, visualise the ecological and physical functioning of estuaries. These tools have been used in dialogues with stakeholders in the estuaries
We made three visualisations of changes in the estuaries. We started with an animation of the development of a salt marsh at the edges of an estuary. This animation is available in Dutch only. After that, we made an interactive visualisation of the expected changes due to climate change in the Gota älv estuary in Sweden. Our final product was EMOVER, a serious game in which a player takes the role of an estuary manager.
More information about the project can be found on www.emove-project.eu. EMOVE is funded by the European Union in the Interreg North Sea IVB programme. The main results of the project are described in het brochure "Governance vision"

International cooperation and innovative tools
We really like to work in projects in which parties from different countries and backgrounds work together on sustainable management of their environment. In this project, our task was to produce innovative communication tools to facilitate the interaction with and between stakeholders in the project. The combination of international cooperation and working on innovative tools made this project very interesting and fun to work for.
